Pioneer Relic Hall Tours Historic Moyle Park Tours Parade & Grand Marshals ALPINE DAYS 2009 GRAND MARSHALSLaMar and LaRene Drew - Long time Alpine Residents LaMar and LaRene (Beck) Drew grew up in Alpine one block from each other. They have been married 58 years and have four daughters with 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. LaRene served for a couple of years as the city recorder and worked for Alpine School District for 23 years. She is a “chronic” walker, walking at least three miles a day around Alpine, even after two hip replacements. LaMar was a school teacher and a principal for 15 years in the Jordan School District after graduating from BYU. When he retired, he became and electrician and still does electrical work. He is also a Veteran of the Air Force and was a Master Barber for many years after his time in the service. Both LaRene and LaMar love horseback riding, hiking and exploring (Lake Hardy, Box Elder Peak). LaMar served as a tour guide at Timpanogos Cave for 11 years and estimates he has walked around the world twice with the many daily treks he made up the mountain. He climbed Timpanogos Peak 11 times in single summer when he was 40 years old. He’ll hike it again this summer at an age a few years beyond 40. He still enjoys riding his motorcycle on trails in and around Alpine. Both of them express a deep love for Alpine and the quality of life here, specifically for the mountains and the wonderful access that we have to enjoy the surrounding beauty - Parade Entry and Commentary Form (pdf) Alpine Days Parade 10 AM, Downtown.
