Alpine Days Rodeo Grand Entry

RODEO GRAND ENTRY OPEN CALL SATURDAY AUGUST 4, 2007
AT ALPINE CITY RODEO GROUNDS 8:00 to 10:00 AM

In an effort to involve the community with the opening of the Alpine Rodeo Events in 2007 we will be hosting an open call for those interested in riding THEIR HORSE and carrying a sponsor flag in the opening ceremonies of both nights of rodeo.

Come ready to do a short pattern carrying one of our sponsor flags. Those able to perform the short pattern & wish to participate will be put in a random drawing which will be drawn at 10:00 AM until all places for the grand entry are filled.

Car Show

CLASSIC CAR "SHOW-OFF"
9 AM to 2 PM, Saturday
Where: New Location  Red Brick Church,
          165 North 100 East
Come join us for the 2st Annual Alpine Days Classic Car “Show-Off”. Laura Potter has been working hard to give us this opportunity to see what special vehicles Alpine residents have stowed away in their garages. There will be no judging, just a chance for our Alpine neighbors to see some great automobiles. Do you have an old car that you're proud of and would like to "Show-Off"? There still may be some time to get it into the show. The registered owner must be an Alpine resident.

Registration forms may be picked up and dropped off at  Alpine City Hall, 20 North Main street or by calling Laura Potter at 756-6725. Registration must be completed by Thursday, August 9th.


Family Night Bowling Tournament

Times assigned at signup’s starting at 5:00 PM
Cost: $10.00 a person for 3 games and shoes. $7.00 for children bowling 2 games.

Meet at Jack & Jill Bowling Ally (105 South 700 East, American Fork) on Monday, August 6th. Bowl as families or groups, scoring done by age. Children's Bumper bowling  for ages 1 to 11 years. Hike to Lake Hardy

On Friday, August 10th our own Mayor Willoughby will be leading a hike to Lake Hardy for those interested in an exhilarating climb up the mountain.

The hike will begin from the trail head in Alpine Cove at 5:30 AM and plan on returning about 3:00 PM. Plan on about a 5 to 6 hour hike up and a 3 to 4 our decent down (The Mayor claims he can make it up in 3 hours and down in 2 hours, anybody want to race him?)

Non-Denominational Fireside

This year’s program promises to be inspirational, educational, motivating and entertaining. Highlights include an American Legion service award given to Chloe Dauwalder followed by the guest speaker, Alpine resident Bret Van Leeuwen.  Bret started Koins for Kenya several years ago, he will be sharing his insights on reaching out to others, locally and abroad.   For more information contact co-chairs Diane Wunderli, 763-7947 or Jessica Smuin, 763-5050.

Flag Retirement Ceremony

6:00 PM, Tuesday, August 7th
Burgess Park, South Pavilion
This is a local patriotic duty that is being bestowed upon the residents of Alpine. Local Boy Scouts and the Veterans from VFW Post #4918 will participate in this event. Those interested are invited.  Bleachers will be available for seating or you may wish to bring your own chair. For information or to donate a worn or used flag that needs to be retired, contact Ula Hemingway at 756-5490. There is a "Flag Retirement Box" drop off inside the front porch at 55 West Center.

Lip-Sync

Lip-Sync is back!
When? Wednesday August 8th
Where? Under the tent behind City Hall

Cost: $2.00 per person (a group of 3 - $6.00)
Schedule: Pre-registration is Required.
6:00-7:30pm: 4-11 yr olds, lip-sync & karaoke
7:30-9:00pm:12 and older-lip-sync & karaoke
9:00-10:00pm Open Microphone Karaoke for all
Due to popular demand, the lip-sync and “Alpine Idol” (Karaoke) are back! This will be a music filled night you won’t want to miss! Get your act/groups together and decide if you want to lip sing and dance (enter the Lip-sync) or if you want to sing for real (enter the karaoke.) Due to the highly anticipated number of participants, all songs will be limited to 2 minutes and will need to be on a CD. Please screen your music for content so it is family appropriate. Register at City Hall August 1-7 from 12:00 to 7:00 PM. Come prepared with your song on a cd, the song title and artist.

Be creative and have fun! Prizes will be awarded. Winners in each event will be performing on Saturday, Aug. 11th after the parade and will have bragging rights for the year!
Concessions will be available.

 Alpine's Jr. Miss Program will be held on Thursday, August 2nd at Timberline Middle School. Doors will open at 6:30pm with the program beginning at 7:00pm. Jr. Miss is a scholarship program for young women that rewards excellence in the areas of scholastics, Judges' interview, self expression, talent, physical fitness and spirit. Alpine Days Golf Tournament

Tuesday, August 7, 2007,

Place: Cedar Hills Golf Course

First Tee Time: 8:00 AM, Shotgun Start,

Format: 4 Man, Best Ball Scramble

Four person team, Each player plays from the best ball chosen of the four played balls. Each team must use one drive of each player from the front nine and one from the back nine. Each team must use one putt of each player from the front nine and one from the back nine

Cost: $45.00 per player/$180.00 per team. Price includes 18 holes w/ cart, lunch and prizes. ($51.00 per person after July 31st)

Prizes: To be determined. Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive: (1), first Place Team, Cash Prize $200 ($50 per player)

Need help with your handicap? Licorice ropes will be available for purchase.

Golf Shirt/Pullover: If you would like a golf tournament shirt, there is an additional fee of $18.00 (the shirts are more expensive than this but we are receiving a discount on them because of the number of Tee shirts we order for Alpine Days).

Sponsors: we are looking for sponsors for each hole. Sponsors will have their named placed on a sign a designated hole for recognition. Sponsors help pay for prizes and goodies for the tournament. Cost is $75 per sponsor.

Seasoned performers, Nannette Watts, Karla Huntsman and Wendy Gourley weave together a program of bedtime tales tailored-fit for all ages. So grab your pillow, your blanket and your PJ's and meet us in the Alpine Day's Event Tent.

Enter your dog in one of the following categories:  largest, smallest, furriest, best trick, most obedient, longest ears, most lovable/cutest, friendliest, best pet and owner look alike & most unusual.  Please bring have your dog on a leash and remain outside the tent area. Please bring your plastic bags for cleanup as well. This spoof of the Sherlock Holmes stories finds Inspector Winship and Dr. Tart investigating a strange crime in a possibly haunted mansion, while dealing with the beautiful heiress and the crazed staff which live therein.

As part of the Alpine Days Celebrations the annual Lil’ Buckaroo Rodeo has become a favorite of the community as a great way for the whole family to get in on the rodeo action. With events spanning all childhood age groups
there is something for everyone! Parents bring your kids and have a great time with the
exciting crowd prizes from our sponsors, the hilarious rodeo clowns, the great pre-show entertainment, and best of all is watching the kids participate in all the events.

We will have all the same events as the 2006 rodeo: Chicken/Pig/Rabbit Chase, Mutton Bustin' Sheep Riding, Steer Riding, Barrel Racing, & Team Pole Bending. All sign-ups will be at Alpine City hall starting August 1 at 3:00 pm until spaces are filled on a “first-come-first-serve” basis. No early registrations!!! Cost: $17.00 Expert and Sport (late registration cost $20.00)

Price includes t-shirt, and a prize if you stay for the awards ceremony afterwards.

The Sport and Beginners race will begin on 200 N 100 E, in front of the Red Church. The race will end at the LDS North Stake Center. 1125 East Alpine Blvd.

The Expert race will be held exclusively in Lambert Park.

Start and finish at City Hall. Trophies to top male and female finishers.  Individual trophies also to top three places in each age category.

Alpine Days Parade

10 AM, Downtown.

Enjoy this years theme “Proud to be an American in Alpine” as you watch your friends and neighbors in this years parade.  This year the parade will start from the LDS Stake Center on Canyon Crest Road and end at Alpine Elementary School.  Entry forms are available at City Hall or online at www.alpinecity.org. During the line-up time, Canyon Crest Road will temporarily be turned into a one-way street.  Access to Canyon Crest Road will not be allowed at Alpine Hwy (Main Street), Ridge Drive, or Cascade/Sierra Ave.  Residents should be prepared to use alternate streets coming to and from their homes during this time.  Access to and from Paradise Lane and Carlisle Ave will be allowed but please observe the one-way direction.  Road closures will be in effect approximately 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Alpine Days Art and Quilt Show

Where: Mountainville Chapel (Red Brick Church, 165 North 100 East). Please come to the Mountainville Chapel for a wonderful and diverse show. Registration and check-in for participants is Thursday August 9th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Mountainville Chapel. All entries need to be picked up by Saturday at 5:00 PM or they will be left unattended.
General guidelines for all Alpine Arts Council shows: Alpine Arts Council is not responsible for lost or damaged materials.  The exhibit will be monitored by a host at all times.

     Quilt and Textile Show
Only pieced quilts are accepted.  Antique quilts are welcome.  Please bring a written background about the quilt to display with the entry if possible.  As usual we look forward to your new creations in pieced quilts, knitting, embroidery, weaving, cross-stitch, etc.  No more than four quilts per person.  Please call Paula McKinlay, 756-0163 or Sherry Boren,  360-0211 for questions and details about this enjoyable show.

     Art Show, “Beauty of our World”
The art showing will include paintings, drawings, photography, and sculpture. Youth art is welcome. Please call Chris Culvert at 756-8272 for questions and details about this enjoyable show.

Come and enjoy a fantastic Greek Dinner.  Tickets may be pre-purchased at City Hall Aug 1st thru Aug 9th at 4:00 PM or at the door.  The Family Dinner has been a tradition since the very first Alpine Days.

As the crowning & closing event of Alpine Days the annual PURE BULL rodeo will host PBR stock contractor Bar G Bulls for the 4th year running for a night of PURE entertainment!

This year as we celebrate 50 years of rodeo history in Alpine we are happy to announce that the committee has commissioned cowboy point rankings to be held in the PCBRA national standings! The Professional Cowboys & Bull Riders Association is pleased to be a part of our great tradition here in Alpine we welcome their support of our rodeo!

As in previous years we hope to perform to a sell-out crowd of 1,500 spectators with such outside interest in the event the committee suggests getting your tickets soon!

Come enjoy a fun night of action packed professional bull riding, with cowboys currently ranked in the world standings from across the country. There will be great food & a fun atmosphere for the whole family we hope to see you there!

Tickets go on sale starting Wednesday, August 1st at 3:00 pm.

Enjoy a spectacular fireworks show by FireWorks West. Bring chairs or blankets and relax on the grass with your family and friends.

Limited parking this year so be prepared to walk. Please be considerate of homes in the area.
